Classically trained in jazz, with a wealth of musical experience ranging from hip-hop to modern jazz, Louis Billette is a creative musician mastering a wide musical palette. He embraces this diversity, which is essential to his artistic creation.
Since arriving in Switzerland from Paris ten years ago, Louis Billette, has multiplied his projects with talent. Member of Oggy & the Phonics, Gabriel Zufferey Quartet, Manu Hagmann's CHOICE and Lost in Swing, he has become a key musician on the Swiss jazz scene.
He decided to found Louis Billette Quintet in 2017, composing music that explores an intimate and profound musical domain, in search of a sincere music, far from fashions. Its music draws a clear line through fields of improvisation in which all the members of the group evolve freely
LUX, his lastest work, is as sunny and fresh as the best springtime can be. Far from the hardbop canons that the group might suggest, the sextet embodies a music that takes shape in little touches on a canvas of controlled groove.
